Orange alert

Taraji P. Henson, Octavia Spencer, Cicely Tyson and Viola Davis meet at the Shrine. Laurence Fishburne parties with Mara Brock Akil, Salim Akil and Pooch Hall. Samuel L. Jackson and George Lucas Keke Palmer and Jill Scott It was no shock that Viola Davis took best actress honors at Friday's NAACP Image Awards. But "The Help" star's remarks backstage at the Shrine did surprise the press corp. "I picked it because of the color," Davis said of her plunging orange Herve LeRoux gown. "I didn't realize my tatas would be so prevalent. I thought as long as they are not hanging down to my knees I'm good."After her "House of Payne" win, Keshia Knight Pulliam could not stop gushing about her blue Dolce & Gabbana, though she was concerned about the lengths some women go to to get that perfect look. "Ladies, eat, please! It's good to look fabulous but you need food. I had garlic fries last night so I can talk."Jill Scott, who won outstanding female artist honors, had a bone to pick with the Grammys, which has stopped issuing awards for gospel music. "There is some music without black folksbut not much," she said. Keke Palmer took home a statuette for her "True Jackson, VIP" turn, but got flustered when describing her first on-screen kiss. "OMG!" she said of Robbie Amell. "He had his shirt off and he threw me on the table....But no, he was not hard on the eyes." Contact the Variety newsroom at news@variety.com
