SHE launches, goes shopping

BERLIN -- Germany's ZDF Businesses and Studio Hamburg have partnered to produce a certification and distribution partnership. The recently christened Studio Hamburg Businesses, or SHE, aims to buy privileges to movies and television content for distribution in Germany, especially in the DVD/Blu-ray market, in addition to exploit the 2 companies' huge libraries and archive material. ZDF Businesses, the commercial arm of pubcaster ZDF, and Studio Hamburg, one hundredPercent subsidiary of regional pubcaster NDR -- area of the ARD network -- will have a 50% stake within the new company. She'll market the joint film stock of roughly 1,500 game titles. Additionally, it's handling DVD releases of game titles from ARD and ZDF's current programming lineups. ZDF Enterprise's wide-varying product portfolio comprises both exclusive new programs from ZDF along with a large stock from the company's own licenses acquired from co-productions, distribution deals along with other sources. Approaching releases range from the six-part TV adaptation of Ferdinand von Schirach's best-selling book "Verbrechen" (Crime).
